A Fresh start to a new year - Short Getaway to Bidar - My First Digital Travelogue!!!

After an year of Hibernation at home we have decided for a quick get away over the first long week end of January which apparently coincides with the pongal festival !  Bidar is located at a distance of 150kms from Hyderabad and  it takes around 3 hours to reach this place.

If one is looking for a site seeing and a day tour then also Bidar has a rich historical places like Bidar fort, Nanak Jhira & few temples like Narasimha Jharna,Papanash Mahadev. Route from Hyderabad to Bidar is really nice and its a pleasent drive through NH 65 & Zaheerabad !

The Bidar Fort:

As we entered Bidar We could see the walls of the Bidar fort boundaries . It is such a magnanimous fort giving the impression of glorified past of Indian history  of Bahamanis. There is an archeological museum inside the fort which displays the items collected and there is a history of Bidar on how the capital and fort has been changed from Gulbarga(Kalaburigi) to Bidar.  There are different entry points and each one is identified by the Darwaza! There are many Mahal and a worth mention is Rangeen Mahal. Post Covid it is not yet open to public.

The Gurudwara Nanak Jhira:

The Gurudwara Nanak Jhira is a beautiful building in  white marble in Bidar and is located in a large well planned campus. There is also a huge 500 room pilgrim’s inn in the campus. The Amrit Kund having sweet refreshing water present infront of Gurudwara is said to be discovered by Baba Guru Nanak Dev himself more than 500 years ago.

Jungle Resorts & Lodges :

For stay  Blackbuck resort is one of the best places admist nature. This resort is located at about 15 kms away from the Bidar town and located in between Honekeri forest reserve and Vilaspur lake.  This resort offers so many activities to keep one engaged for the entire day keeping away from electronic devices. About 2-3 kms to reach the resort the approach road is bad, but that's fine. Mobile Network also does not work. Based on the number of days of stay in the resort they plan the day. Though the name of the resort is Balckbuck resort we need to travel 20kms away from the resort to see the Blackbucks. They are preserved in a place near to airport of Bidar.

As we stayed for 2 Nights they planned it like this for us :

Day 1 :

  • Boating

Day 2:

It is jam packed with activities
